Jamey Johnson Announces Stagecoach Spotlight Tour
NASHVILLE, TN (Feb. 14, 2017) – Award-winning singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson will embark on an eight-city tour billed as the Stagecoach Spotlight Tour: Jamey Johnson. Special guests Margo Price and Brent Cobb are set to join Johnson on this highly anticipated musical exploration of truth and tradition.
All three Stagecoach Spotlight Tour musicians are set to perform at the 11th annual Stagecoach Country Music Festival this April.
“Working with Jamey is something we have wanted to do for a very long time. So much so, we decided to double down on both a festival appearance and a tour. A bill like this, that includes Margo Price and Brent Cobb, only comes around once in a lifetime,” says Stacy Vee, talent buyer for Stagecoach and the Stagecoach Spotlight Tour.
Indeed, every show will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience in part because Johnson doesn’t create a set list. This means that no two shows are the same. “I don’t know what I’m going to do until I am standing there doing it,” he says. “That is a freedom I have enjoyed ever since I began doing this, the ability to try something new.
“You’ll see me do a lot of my songs, including my old stuff,” he says. “If I have a new song that I want to share, you will hear that. When I’m not doing my songs, I’ll be doing everybody else’s that I like, from every format.
“My taste is vintage, traditional, and that is not to say that everything I do is old. There are a lot of new writers these days that are putting out great music that I find in the same vein as the old stuff I like and we may try some of that out.”

Johnson, an 11-time Grammy nominee, is “one of the greatest country singers of our time,” according to The Washington Post. He has received tremendous praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and other publications, many of which have hailed his albums as masterpieces.
His influential 2008 album, That Lonesome Song, was certified platinum for 1 million in sales, and his innovative 2010 double album, The Guitar Song, debuted at No. 1 on the country album charts and received a gold certification. In 2012, he released a Grammy-nominated project honoring one of his heroes, Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran, that paired him with Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, Ray Price, Elvis Costello, George Strait, Vince Gill and Merle Haggard.
Johnson is also recognized as one of the most powerful and prolific songwriters of his generation. He is one of only a few people in the history of country music to win two Song of the Year Awards – for “Give It Away” and “In Color”-- from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. He has written singles for George Strait, Trace Adkins, James Otto, Joe Nichols and others.
In addition to his own sold-out solo tour, he joined Warren Haynes, Don Was, Michael McDonald and others in early 2017 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Band’s landmark project, The Last Waltz, with a critically acclaimed tour called “The Last Waltz 40 Tour.”
Country singer-songwriter Margo Price captured the nation’s attention and earned comparisons to Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton with the release of her 2016 debut solo album, Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, and unforgettable performances everywhere from Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to Austin City Limits and Charlie Rose.
Rolling Stone named “Hands of Time” the best country song of 2016 and The Nashville Scene named Midwest Farmer’s Daughter the year’s best country album. Price was also named Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2016 Americana Honors and Awards, and is a finalist for the 2017 American Music Prize for Best Debut Album. The New York Times Magazine says Price possesses “a singular voice, aching with desperation and resolve,” and NPR says she’ll “stop Music Row dead in its tracks.”
With the release of his major-label debut album, Shine on Rainy Day, Georgia singer-songwriter Brent Cobb has earned the reputation as an authentic blue-collar poet and garnered comparisons to Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, and even Paul Simon. Produced by Grammy-award winning producer Dave Cobb, the Low Country Sounds/ Elektra Records album debuted in the top 20 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart and continues to receive overwhelming critical acclaim.
Rolling Stone asserts, “The 30-year-old has written and recorded some of the most beautiful, clear-eyed material to come out of Nashville over these past 12 months,” while NPR Music praises, “…”precisely crafted phases amid simple-yet-rich melodies…the words shimmer like a tall glass of sweet tea in the late-morning sun when he strings together a particularly consonant phrase…”
Born in Ellaville, GA (population 1,609), Brent moved to Nashville in 2008 and has since found widespread success as a writer with songs recorded by Lambert (“Old Shit”), Kenny Chesney (“Don’t It”), Luke Bryan (“Tailgate Blues”), David Nail (“Grandpa’s Farm”), Kellie Pickler (“Rockaway”) and Eli Young Band (“Go Outside and Dance”) among others.
